How we compare products
The short version: we compare published specifications, we do not test products, and we mark anything we could not verify rather than guessing at it.
What we do
Every product comparison on this site is built from specifications published by the manufacturer or listed by the retailer: materials, dimensions, closure type, hinge design, sizing method and measurement point, weight, warranty terms, and return windows. Each table records the date the figures were retrieved, because specifications and packaging change.
Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure, the cell is marked UNVERIFIED. We do not estimate it, infer it from a photograph, or copy it from another website that may itself have guessed.
What we do not do
- We do not physically test products. No product on this site has been worn, handled, or examined by us. We therefore make no claims about comfort, durability, fit, or effectiveness, because we have no basis for any.
- We do not publish star ratings or scores. A score implies an assessment we have not performed.
- We do not reproduce customer reviews. Reviewers own their words, and republishing review text or scraping retailer rating data is not something we do.
- We do not rank products as best. A specification table can tell you which brace can fit your leg and your return tolerance. It cannot tell you how one will feel after four hours.
- We do not list prices. Prices change frequently, and a stale price is worse than no price. We link to the retailer where the current price is shown.
- We do not accept payment for placement. No manufacturer can pay to appear in a comparison, to be positioned favourably, or to have a competitor removed.
Why we work this way
Most sites in this category present themselves as having tested the products they list. Testing braces properly is expensive and slow, and a great deal of what is presented as testing is not. We decided the honest position was to do the part we can do rigorously and be explicit about the part we are not doing.
The trade-off is worth stating plainly: a specification comparison is genuinely less useful than a good hands-on review. If you can find a reviewer who has actually worn a brace for months, their account is worth more than our table. What our table gives you is a reliable filter — which products can fit your measurements, your closure needs, and your return tolerance — with no invented experience mixed in.
If that ever changes, this page changes with it. If we ever do test products, we will say exactly what was tested, for how long, and how it was obtained.
How we handle medical information
Condition pages summarise general information from public orthopedic and health bodies, which are named and linked at the foot of each page. We do not have clinical credentials and we do not claim any. We do not diagnose, and we do not tell you what treatment to pursue. Where evidence is genuinely mixed, we say so rather than picking the tidier answer.
We do not make claims that any product treats, prevents, or resolves a medical condition.
